Baltimore News.Net Thursday 4th September, 2008
Seven people have been killed in a helicopter crash off the coast of Dubai.
The bodies were recovered in the course of a daylong operation Thursday at the site of the Rashid offshore oilfield where the accident occurred.
The Gulf News quoted a police source as saying the Bell 212 helicopter carrying two crew members and five passengers crashed into an offshore oil rig 50 nautical miles from Dubai on Wednesday night.
The helicopter was operated by international oil and gas facilities provider Petrofac.
The helicopter was on a routine infield flight to the Rashid oilfield 70 km from the coast of Dubai.
During take-off, the helicopter crashed onto the deck of a jack-up drilling rig.
The aircraft then broke up and fell into the sea. Email this story to a friend
