News Corp expectations raised by higher ad revenue

News Corp has told the market its profit should grow into the double digit percentage range for the rest of 2009.

It had previously predicted a lower profit range but has since suggested it is seeing encouraging trends in most News Corp businesses.

News Corps cable networks helped to improve the forecast, with advertising sales performing well.

News Corp's first-quarter net income was $571 million compared with $515 million a share last year.
