Since movie theaters reopened earlier this year, many summer blockbusters that were headed to streaming services have also been scheduled for release on the big screen. The lineup for 2021 has been stacked with incredible films such as A Quiet Place II and Black Widow, as well as upcoming releases like Dune and The Matrix 4. Another film that's slated for both a theatrical and streaming release? Disney's upcoming live-action adventure movie, Jungle Cruise.

Jungle Cruise, which stars Emily Blunt and Dwayne Johnson as explorers traveling along the Amazon River, will premiere on July 30th in theaters and in IMAX. You can also catch it on the same day on Disney+ with Disney+ Premier Access.

The film stars Blunt as Dr. Lily Houghton, a turn-of-the-century researcher who travels to the Amazon in search of a legendary tree with the ability to cure all known maladies. There, she hires a hapless riverboat skipper named Frank (Johnson), and the two strike up an odd-couple rapport, full of wisecracking wordplay and the possibility of something more.

Release Date and Plot

Disney's Jungle Cruise finally arrives on screens around the world in July 2021 with the film releasing in the US and UK specifically on July 30th. Set in the early 20th century, the film tells the story of Dr Lily Houghton (Emily Blunt) as she and her brother MacGregor (Jack Whitehall) set off in search of an ancient tree with mystical healing capabilities.

To help navigate the meandering river and the treacherous Amazon rainforest, Lily and MacGregor hire the help of Frank Wolff (Dwayne Johnson), a wisecracking and hard-nosed boat captain. However, as the group's journey progresses and more secrets about the mystical tree are revealed, it quickly becomes clear that the fate of all mankind could well be at risk.

Where to Watch Jungle Cruise

Jungle Cruise will be available in both cinemas and on Disney+ when it releases on July 30th, 2021.

That's right, film fans have the choice of watching Jungle Cruise either on the big screen or from the comfort of their own homes. Fans reading from the US can book tickets for Jungle Cruise here, while UK fans can do the same here.

On Disney+, the film will be available from midnight Pacific Time in the US on July 30th, which translates to 3am ET in the US, 8am here in the UK, 12:30pm in India and 5:00pm in Sydney, Australia. Where Disney+ is not available, Jungle Cruise will be exclusively releasing in cinemas.

How to watch 'Jungle Cruise' on Disney Plus

"Jungle Cruise" premieres on July 30 in theaters and on Disney Plus with Premier Access. In order to stream the movie at home when it debuts, you have to pay a one-time $30 fee on top of your Disney Plus subscription.

Viewers who purchase "Jungle Cruise" through Premier Access can watch the film as many times as they like as long as they remain a Disney Plus member. Disney Plus costs $8 a month or $80 a year. Subscribers can preorder "Jungle Cruise" now to get access as soon as it's released on Friday.

If you don't mind waiting a few months, "Jungle Cruise" will become available to all Disney Plus members without an extra fee on November 12.

For viewers who want a wider variety of entertainment options, Disney Plus currently offers a bundle with Hulu and ESPN+ for a discounted rate of $14 a month. The bundle saves you about $6 off the combined regular price of all three services.
