The Ravens wasted no time upgrading their offensive line, reportedly signing veteran guard John Simpson to a three-year deal.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported the agreement less than an hour into free agency's legal tampering window opening. It's reportedly a $30 million deal with a $10 million average.
It's a reunion for Simpson, who had a breakout 2023 season in Baltimore in which he started all 17 games. He parlayed that into a strong two-year contract with the New York Jets, and he has continued to improve from there.
Simpson, 28, was a top-10 starting guard in the NFL in 2024, according to Pro Football Focus grades. He is a reliable mauler who allowed just 20 quarterback pressures that entire season.
His grades weren't as high in 2025, but he again started all 17 games and yielded just five quarterback hits all season. He has started every game each of the past three years, showing his durability and toughness.
Upgrading the interior offensive line was one of the Ravens' top priorities this offseason. Pro Bowl center Tyler Linderbaum is still reportedly on the open market, and it remains to be seen where he lands, but the Ravens have already reportedly improved at guard.
Baltimore has Andrew Vorhees and Emery Jones Jr. returning, and they could battle for one guard spot. Simpson has been exclusively at left guard the past three seasons.
