Cooper Rush's tenure with the Ravens lasted one season.
The veteran backup quarterback was released by Baltimore on Wednesday, afterhe signed a reported two-year, $6.2 million contractwith the team in 2025 that was incentive-laden. Baltimorere-signed Tyler Huntley on Mondayto return as Lamar Jackson's backup quarterback next season.
Rush never found his groove in Baltimore's offense after spending seven years with the Dallas Cowboys. He was called into action in Week 4 against the Kansas City Chiefs and completed 9 of 13 passes after Jackson left the game with an injury.
However, making his first start in Week 5, Rush threw three interceptions during a 44-10 loss to the Houston Texans. The following week against the Los Angeles Rams during a 17-3 defeat, Rush was benched in the fourth quarter after he was 11-for-19 passing for 72 yards and an interception.
The 32-year-old Rush has extensive NFL experience, having played in 42 games with a 9-7 record as a starter. He joined the Cowboys as an undrafted rookie in 2017 and spent most of his career as a reliable backup for Dak Prescott. In 2024, Rush started eight games after Prescott suffered a season-ending hamstring injury, and the Cowboys were 4-4 during that stint.
However, with Huntley back in the fold, Rush is back on the free agent market.
